VIDEOKILLS is a Berlin based artist platform for video art, Visual & sound multimedia and performance artists. We are building a contemporary video art community across a number of eclectic venues and continents, offering opportunities for artists to exhibit their work in untraditional spaces, venues and contexts and connect and collaborate both locally and globally. We have outposts in New York and Sydney and will to continue to build a global network of artistic collaborations and exhibitions.
WHAT WE DO:
VIDEOKILLS hosts a monthly Video Art event in Berlin – screening original contemporary video art, and showcasing musical performances, lectures, works and screenings curated by rotating guest artists and more. We have a policy of OPEN SUBMISSION and everyone who is interested in submitting work will be screened provided they fit within our loose criteria.
We also coordinate events and exhibitions in Sydney and New York. Our largest most ambitious event is the VIDEOKILLS Inernational Video Art and experimental Film festival complete with site specific installations, live performances, lectures, parties, and more.
HISTORY:
Created in 2009, VIDEOKILLS formed as a platform for international artists to exhibit work and share ideas in a free, safe and constructive environment.
We are interested in process and history as well as presentation. We hope to foster the education of Video Art and to explore past influences of our network of up and coming video based artists. Our aim is to foster discussion and create a dynamic dialogue between artists.
VIDEOKILLS welcomes artists, curators, theorists, gallerist’s and anyone else looking to share opportunities, ideas and experiences.
*A note for video artists
Artists who submit their work to VIDEOKILLS should be aware that their work may be screened in a variety of different contexts and exhibitions on an ongoing basis. Please write to jj@videokills.com for any inquiries.
